Exercise and fitness have always been a large part of Sheri’s life. She grew up out west, playing sports and enjoying all of the things nature had to offer. She came to the University of Cincinnati from Montana and received her degree in Exercise Science and then in Physical Therapy. She has happily been practicing PT for over 30 years.
Her strong desire to help her clients attain their highest quality of life drove her to open her own manual physically therapy practice and Pilates reformer studio in 2008, called TheraPilates Fitness. She has since completed hundreds of hours of continued education with emphasis on hands on manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilizations, dry needling, soft tissue mobilizations and fascial release techniques. Her belief that no one should allow themselves to live in pain, keeps her researching and learning ways to holistically help each client as a whole person, not just as a symptom. This treatment theory led her naturally to the Pilates Reformer to help in the final component of optimal health and wellness, total body strength, balance and power.
She has an energetic approach to her PT treatments and Pilates reformer classes and has developed a style and method of teaching Pilates that incorporates the science of physical therapy and the art of Joseph Pilates’ methods. Her passion for Pilates is displayed through her creation of classes that are inclusive for all ages and abilities, which assures that everyone can participate while challenging each client at their own level to push themselves to reach their own personal goals. She teaches her instructors to offer modifications to individual clients to guarantee safe reformer exercises, making reformer classes welcoming and challenging to everyone!
Flex•50 is her 2nd studio. We will be taking the fundamentals of traditional Pilates reformer and merging it with the high intensity workout that Xformer has to offer.
In Sheri’s free time, she loves hanging out with her friends and family, traveling, hiking, playing pickle ball and trying out new bars and restaurants in NKY and Cincinnati! 🥂
Since her mom (co-owner, Sheri) opened her first studio when Alexis was 12, Pilates reformer has been a huge part of her health and fitness journey. From her time as a high-level athlete, to recovering from a herniated disk in her back and recently during pregnancy and postpartum.
In high school when she herniated a disk in her back during a soccer practice, the reformer quite literally changed her life. Paired with physical therapy, Pilates helped her with spinal stabilization and getting the muscles to activate and fire correctly again. She got back on the field much quicker than expected during crucial college recruiting years. Because of this, she was able to go on to play college soccer at the University of Toledo.
She and her husband have an (almost) 2-year-old. During pregnancy and postpartum she continued working out on the reformer. It helped to keep her core and pelvic muscles strong to maintain good body alignment, and keep her pain free. She was happily surprised with how quickly she got her core strength back, postpartum.
She discovered the Xformer 6 years ago, when she moved to Cleveland for her job and became addicted. Post sports, she still craved a competitive team atmosphere, but unfortunately her body doesn’t love the pounding of running or HIIT, so it was hard to find a workout that filled her up. Then she found the Xformer , which merged her love for Pilates and intense workouts. She believes it’s the most effective and efficient workout out there – High intensity strength training, with low impact Pilates inspired exercises all while incorporating cardio.
These days, her hobbies mostly include being a mom and Pilates. But, she also loves going out with her friends and family, going to concerts and sporting events/tailgating, and checking out different fitness studios, coffee shops and bars 🍻
She can’t wait to open the studio next month and grow the Flex.50 fam!
